Gang rape by three or more men is not practical: Mulayam Singh Yadav, Thanks for the trivia!

protest against rapeTrivia by Neta: Gang rape by three men is not practical

Statistics: Every day 93 women are being raped in the country

The “most iconic” and “most respected” leader (pun intended) of Samajwadi Party recently told his fellow party workers that gang rape was an “impractical” idea since three people can’t rape a woman.

Addressing a gathering at Lucknow, the SP supremo defended his callous remark by adding that “Innocents must not be implicated and harassed. There are cases, where a victim has accused four brothers of raping her. It is not practical. “But then this is not the first time he has defended rapists. His previous attempts at terming rape as a mischief and stating that boys will be boys created a huge uproar – albeit outside the parliament.

Samajwadi Party particularly holds a copyright on such statements. Remember this statement? “Any woman if, whether married or unmarried, goes along with a man, with or without her consent, should be hanged.” Abu Azmi, member of the Samajwadi Party caught the media off-guard when he proposed this solution to the rising rape cases in the country.

But then he is not the only insane neta making such claims. A similar rubbish statements made in the parliament by Sharad Yadav on South Indian “dark skinned” women, or for that matter when one of the MPs defended stalkers and asked the male parliament members if they in their youth had never followed a women, was silently accepted by the members.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala’s supported the Khaps diktat to reduce the marriageable age for girls to prevent the rising number of rapes in Haryana. He said, “”I am with the khaps on this issue. This will protect women.”

And it’s not only Netas, the Women Commission members too don’t lag behind much. Asha Mirje, Maharashtra State Women’s commission member on rising rapes cases said, “Did Nirbhaya really have to go to watch a movie at 11 in the night with her friend? Take the Shakti Mills rape case. Why did the victim go to such an isolated spot at 6 pm?”

Or the infamous quote by Ex-Delhi CM, Sheila Dikshit: “One should not be adventurous being a woman.”

T Thiagarajan, Puducherry Education Minister was the only one suggesting solutions perhaps: “Girl students should be made to wear overcoats to prevent men from lusting after them.” Such a brilliant piece of advice!

The NDA led by RSS too had their tryst with such controversies when Mohan Bhagwat, RSS chief called rape as a side effect of westernisation. He said, “Rape is primarily a side effect of westernization, and hence more common in urban areas. Villages that embody the national spirit do not have a rape culture.”

And there are hundreds of such statements….

I am not sure if they are even educated enough to read newspapers, but I am assuming that they are literate to at least understand this:

STATE/UT Crime Head No. Of Cases Reported No. of Victims upto 10 years No. of Victims 10-14 years No. of Victims 14-18 years No. of Victims 18-30 years No. of Victims 30-50 years No. of Victims above 50 years Total Victims
Total (All-India) Incest cases 536 107 135 151 117 36 2 548
Total (All-India) Other rape cases 33171 1477 2708 8726 15439 4612 254 33216

It is shameful that we elect such idiots, and more over we have bigger idiots who sit in the newsroom arguing that their leader was misquoted.
